Description

A rich and savory skillet dish featuring ground turkey, sautéed mushrooms, and fresh spinach, ready in just thirty minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (93/7 lean recommended)
  • 1 small Yellow Onion (finely diced)
  • 8 oz Cremini Mushrooms (sliced)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 5 oz Fresh Baby Spinach
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Skillet: Begin by pouring the olive oil into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Let it shimmer for a moment; this signals it’s ready for your ingredients.
  2. Brown the Turkey: Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with your wooden spoon as it cooks. Sauté it until beautifully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat and set it aside.
  3. Sauté the Onion: In the same skillet, toss in the finely diced onion. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens and turns translucent.
  4. Add the Mushrooms: Introduce the sliced mushrooms to the skillet, letting them cook for another 4-5 minutes until they’re browned and release their juices.
  5. Stir in the Garlic: Toss in the minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes. Cook just until fragrant, roughly 1 minute.
  6. Return the Turkey: Bring the cooked turkey back to the skillet, along with the fresh spinach. Stir vigorously until the spinach wilts down beautifully.
  7. Season it Up: Sprinkle the dish with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Give everything a good stir to combine the flavors well.
  8. Let it Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Serve hot and enjoy.
