Tandoori Chicken is a popular Indian dish known for its vibrant color and smoky flavor, marinated in a blend of spices and yogurt before being cooked in a traditional tandoor oven.

- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons tandoori masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, tandoori masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the tandoor or oven to a high temperature (around 200°C or 400°F).
- Place the marinated chicken on skewers or a baking tray.
- Cook the chicken in the tandoor or oven for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan or rice.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add more chili powder to the marinade.
- Ensure the chicken is marinated for at least 4 hours for the best flavor.
- Serve with mint chutney for an extra kick.
