Description

Tandoori Chicken is a popular Indian dish known for its vibrant color and smoky flavor, marinated in a blend of spices and yogurt before being cooked in a traditional tandoor oven.


Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons tandoori masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, tandoori masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the tandoor or oven to a high temperature (around 200°C or 400°F).
  4. Place the marinated chicken on skewers or a baking tray.
  5. Cook the chicken in the tandoor or oven for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan or rice.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more chili powder to the marinade.
  • Ensure the chicken is marinated for at least 4 hours for the best flavor.
  • Serve with mint chutney for an extra kick.
