Ingredients

Scale

For the cheeseburger cups:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray or a little olive oil

For the spicy garlic Parmesan topping:

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Optional toppings:

  • Dill pickle slices
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Spicy burger sauce
  • Extra shredded cheddar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin pan.
  2. Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, gently folding the edges to create a little basket. Lightly spray with oil and bake for 5 minutes until just starting to crisp.
  3. Fry the bacon until crispy, then transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate. Once cooled, crumble into small pieces.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease, then stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the crispy bacon and half of the cheddar cheese until combined.
  6. Spoon the cheeseburger mixture evenly into the pre-baked wonton cups. Top with the remaining cheddar and grated Parmesan.
  7. Return the pan to the oven for 8 to 12 minutes, until the wonton edges are golden and crisp and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Make sure the beef reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Mix the melted butter, minced garlic, Parmesan, chili flakes and chopped parsley in a small bowl.
  9. Carefully remove the cups from the pan and lightly brush the tops with the spicy garlic Parmesan butter. Add jalapeños or pickle slices if desired, and serve hot.
