Cheeseburger filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup smoky BBQ sauce, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Cheesy topping:

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños or chopped dill pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Remove 8 to 10 large cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
  2. Brush the leaves with olive oil, season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, and shape them into cups in a greased muffin pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

  4. Brown the beef and onion, drain excess grease, then add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stir in the BBQ sauce and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Fold in the bacon and cheddar.
  6. Spoon the filling into the cabbage cups.
  7. Top with mozzarella, Parmesan, and reserved bacon.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until bubbly and the beef reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit (71 degrees Celsius).
  9. Drizzle with extra BBQ sauce, sprinkle with parsley, add jalapeños or pickles if desired, and serve warm.
