Description

A hearty and flavorful lasagna featuring layers of creamy ricotta, savory Italian sausage, and melted cheeses, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/4 lb Italian sausage (or ground beef)
  • 1 (24 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles per package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the meat sauce by browning the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  4. Combine the spaghetti sauce with the cooked meat and heat through.
  5. Measure and mix ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until creamy.
  6. Layer in a lasagna pan: meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mix, mozzarella, and repeat twice, finishing with meat sauce.
  7. Top with Parmesan cheese and remaining mozzarella.
  8. Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
  9. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing to serve.

Notes

Make-ahead tip: Prepare up to baking and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add a few extra minutes to baking time if refrigerated.
