- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 1/4 lb Italian sausage (or ground beef)
- 1 (24 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles per package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the meat sauce by browning the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Combine the spaghetti sauce with the cooked meat and heat through.
- Measure and mix ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until creamy.
- Layer in a lasagna pan: meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mix, mozzarella, and repeat twice, finishing with meat sauce.
- Top with Parmesan cheese and remaining mozzarella.
- Bake covered with foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
- Rest for 10 minutes before slicing to serve.
Notes
Make-ahead tip: Prepare up to baking and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add a few extra minutes to baking time if refrigerated.
