Description

A comforting dish combining seasoned beef, tender potatoes, and gooey cheese, perfect for gatherings or weeknight meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until tender.
  3. Stir in the ground beef, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Layer half of the potato slices in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by some shredded cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  6. Pour the beef broth over the layers.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
  9. Allow to sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Make ahead and refrigerate overnight. Adjust cooking times if baking from cold.
