Description

Tender and juicy Chinese spareribs glazed with a rich, sweet, and savory sauce that embodies the spirit of celebration and togetherness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs pork spareribs
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl: soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, five-spice powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Prepare the ribs in a roasting pan, coat each rib with the sauce mixture using a basting brush.
  4. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  5. Caramelize by removing the foil, increasing oven temperature to 400°F (200°C), and baking uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Rest the ribs for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to use baby back ribs as a leaner option or tamari for a gluten-free twist. Make-ahead tips: marinate ribs overnight for deeper flavor.
