Description
A delightful dish combining tender beef and vibrant broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional)
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 head broccoli (cut into bite-sized florets)
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 teaspoons ginger (minced)
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the beef: Slice the flank steak against the grain into 0.5 cm thick slices or cut into sticks about 1 cm wide.
- Transfer the beef to a bowl and add soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch. Mix well and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by mixing chicken stock, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
- Pour water into a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Once boiling, add broccoli and steam for about a minute.
- Add peanut oil to the skillet and heat. Then, add the marinated beef in a single layer and let it sear for about 30 seconds.
- Flip the beef and stir until lightly charred, keeping it juicy.
- Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.
- Return the broccoli, stir, then pour in the sauce. Cook until it thickens, about a minute.
- Serve immediately on a plate and enjoy the aroma!
Notes
Marinate the beef ahead of time for deeper flavor. Feel free to add other vegetables based on your preference.
