  • Author: Sophie

Description

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 20–25 minutes | Yields: approximately 12–16 bars, depending on size

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1½ cups rolled oats
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • ½ tsp cinnamon, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a small baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Mash the bananas until smooth in a large bowl.
  • Add peanut butter, egg, and applesauce; mix well.
  • Stir in the rolled oats and cinnamon until a thick mixture forms.
  • Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, until firm and lightly golden around the edges.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into small bars.

  • Store refrigerated up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

Use only plain, natural peanut butter with no xylitol and no added chocolate. Always check the ingredient label carefully, since xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs and is increasingly common in sugar-free peanut butter varieties. Avoid any added sugar or other sweeteners in this recipe, and serve as an occasional treat rather than a daily staple.
