Description
Tom Kha Gai is a delicious Thai coconut chicken soup that combines the flavors of coconut milk, chicken, and aromatic herbs.
Ingredients

- 400g chicken breast, sliced
- 400ml coconut milk
- 500ml chicken broth
- 2 stalks lemongrass, chopped
- 3–4 kaffir lime leaves
- 3–4 slices galangal
- 200g mushrooms, sliced
- 2–3 Thai bird’s eye chilies, smashed
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a pot, combine chicken broth, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and galangal. Bring to a boil.
- Add the sliced chicken and cook until it is no longer pink.
- Stir in the coconut milk and mushrooms, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the smashed chilies, fish sauce, and lime juice. Stir well.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or fewer chilies.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken with tofu and use vegetable broth.
- Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
