Description

A delicious and spicy take on the classic Po’ Boy sandwich, featuring crispy shrimp and zesty Cajun flavors.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Lettuce, for serving
  • Tomato slices, for serving
  • Remoulade sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain on paper towels and season with additional salt if desired.
  7. Assemble the Po’ Boys by placing shrimp in hoagie rolls, topping with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

  • For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Feel free to customize toppings with pickles or avocado.
