- 1 can Spam (12 oz)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- While the rice is cooking, slice the Spam into 8 equal pieces.
- In a skillet, fry the Spam slices until they are golden brown on both sides.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sugar, and rice vinegar to create a marinade.
- Pour the marinade over the fried Spam and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly before handling.
- To assemble, place a sheet of nori on a clean surface, add a layer of rice, then a slice of Spam, and top with more rice.
- Wrap the nori around the rice and Spam, using a little water to seal the edges.
- Slice the musubi into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
