Description

A decadent salted caramel cake with golden layers, rich caramel, and creamy frosting, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup homemade or store-bought caramel sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar for stiff peaks.
  9. Layer one cake on a platter, add caramel and frosting, then top with the second cake. Repeat.
  10. Drizzle more caramel on top and finish with sea salt.
  11. Slice and serve, enjoying the flavors!

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. Can be made ahead and stored for up to 4 days in the fridge.
