- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cheesecake)
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Pour the red velvet batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the cheesecake filling by beating the cream cheese until smooth, then add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the cheesecake filling on top and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese.
- Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
- Decorate with whipped cream or chocolate shavings if desired.
