Description

Delightful jelly-filled donuts that are perfectly golden brown with a sweet, soft interior and a burst of fruity jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup fruit jam or jelly (e.g., raspberry or strawberry)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 packet of instant yeast, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together 1/2 cup of warm milk, 2 large eggs, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter until well blended in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm environment for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch on a floured surface and cut out circles using a round cutter.
  7. Put a teaspoon of fruit jam or jelly in the center of half the dough circles, top with another circle, and gently press the edges to seal.
  8. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C), then carefully drop a few donuts into the hot oil, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Remove the donuts from the oil and transfer them to paper towels to drain excess oil. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk. Let the donuts rise perfectly for a fluffy texture.
