Description
Indulge in succulent pieces of chicken marinated and fried to golden perfection, enveloped in a spicy and savory sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts or Thighs
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 1 piece Egg White
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
- 2 tablespoons Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Ginger, minced
- 2–3 Dried Red Chilies or Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/2 cup Tomato Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chili Garlic Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sugar or Honey
- 1/4 cup Water
- Sliced Green Onions
- Toasted Sesame Seeds
- Thin Strips of Fried Onion or Bell Pepper
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with cornstarch, egg white, salt, and black pepper. Let the chicken marinate for at least 20 minutes.
- Heat the Oil: In a wok or large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry the Chicken: Carefully place marinated chicken into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5–6 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: In the same pan, remove excess oil and add sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and dried chilies. Sauté until fragrant, then add ketchup, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, and sugar.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: Add crispy chicken back into the pan, tossing to coat. Add water if the sauce is too thick.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and fried onions or bell pepper strips.
Notes
For a healthier option, try air-frying or baking the chicken instead of frying.
