- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl: all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and salt.
- Mix wet ingredients in another bowl: sourdough starter, honey, melted butter, and warm water.
- Create the dough by gradually adding wet ingredients to dry ingredients until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for about 1 hour until nicely expanded.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
This bread can be stored at room temperature for up to three days or frozen for longer storage. It can be enjoyed with various toppings or in sandwiches.
