Description

A delightful twist on traditional cinnamon rolls, this cake features a tender base laced with gooey cinnamon sugar swirls and drizzled with creamy icing.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl for the cinnamon swirl.
  6. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over it, then pour the remaining batter on top.
  7. Swirl through the batter with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together for the icing.
  10. Drizzle the icing over the warm cake and serve.

Notes

For a quicker version, an air fryer can be used at 320°F for about 25 minutes. You can also prepare the batter a day in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
