- 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, granulated sweetener, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together applesauce, almond milk, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil until smooth.
- Gently combine wet and dry mixtures until a flexible dough forms.
- Roll small amounts of dough into bite-sized pieces.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the bites with some space between them.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Roll warm churro bites in cinnamon sugar immediately after baking.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Churro bites can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispiness. You can also customize flavors by adding cocoa powder or flavored extracts.
