Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup edible gold leaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine 1 cup water and 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt, stirring until a cohesive ball forms.
  4. Remove from heat and cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
  5. Beat in 4 large eggs, one at a time, until smooth and shiny.
  6. Transfer the dough to a piping bag and pipe small mounds onto an unlined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Cool completely on the baking sheet.
  9. Whip 1 cup heavy cream with 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  10. Fill each cooled profiterole with whipped cream.
  11. Melt 8 ounces dark chocolate and drizzle over the filled profiteroles.
  12. Decorate with edible gold leaf before serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature eggs and avoid opening the oven too early.
