Description
Deliciously tender beef chuck roast in a flavorful au jus, served in crispy hoagie rolls with melted provolone cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4–6 hoagie rolls
- Sliced provolone cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the roast: Place the beef chuck roast in the bottom of your crockpot. Generously season it with salt and pepper.
- Layer onions and garlic: Scatter the sliced onions and minced garlic delicately on top of the roast.
- Mix the au jus: In a bowl, combine the beef broth, water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until mixed and pour over the roast.
- Set to cook: Cover the crockpot and set it on low heat for about 480 minutes (8 hours).
- Shred the beef: Use two forks to pull apart the meat, mixing it back into the au jus.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Pile the flavorful meat onto each hoagie roll and add provolone cheese if desired.
- Prep for dipping: Ladle the au jus into small bowls for dipping.
Notes
Toast the rolls lightly for added crunch.
