Description

Indulge in tender, slow-cooked beef piled high on crusty hoagie rolls, served with a savory au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef by placing the chuck roast in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Top with the sliced onion and minced garlic.
  3. Add the beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Set the slow cooker on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  5. Shred the beef into bite-sized pieces after cooking.
  6. Assemble the sandwiches by piling the shredded beef onto the hoagie rolls and adding provolone cheese if desired.
  7. Serve with warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

For extra texture, lightly toast hoagie rolls before assembly. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days or frozen for three months.
