- 2 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and black peppercorns. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent.
- Add the marinated chicken (reserve the marinade) and cook until lightly browned.
- Pour in the reserved marinade and water. Add bay leaves.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until chicken is tender.
- Season with salt to taste and serve hot with rice.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, let the chicken marinate overnight.
- Adjust the vinegar and soy sauce according to your taste preference.
- Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
