- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat, allowing it to turn golden brown.
- Mix together the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, then add buttermilk and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
- Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually, folding gently.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk for the glaze.
- Glaze the cooled bars once they are completely cool, then slice and serve.
Notes
Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely for best texture.
