Description

These Brown Butter Maple Donut Bars combine rich, nutty flavors with a delicate texture, drizzled with a sweet maple glaze for a perfect dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat, allowing it to turn golden brown.
  3. Mix together the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, then add buttermilk and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually, folding gently.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk for the glaze.
  10. Glaze the cooled bars once they are completely cool, then slice and serve.

Notes

Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely for best texture.
