- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Arrange the sliced peaches evenly over the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts (if using) to create the streusel topping.
- Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the peaches.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use ripe but firm peaches.
- This cake can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
